LEOTEK street and area lighting luminaires use state of the art Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) that meet the most stringent industry standards. In 2016, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) published a new standard for testing SPDs in roadway and area lighting equipment. This standard, C136.2-2015, effectively replaced the less stringent ANSI/IEEE C62.41 standard that had been in effect throughout the outdoor lighting industry.

Meeting the ANSI C136.2-2015 standard guarantees the highest reliability and product quality.

With the new standard, all three tests from the table below are required to be performed in the prescribed order and on the same fixture. This test methodology represents how the luminaire will be used in the field, and failure to meet this standard can have real implications on the reliability and lifetime of the luminaire. In contrast, with the outdated standard, new fixtures could be swapped in for each test, and not all tests were required to be performed.

LEOTEK strives to produce the best quality products, with the longest lifetime, in the industry. All of our luminaires meet the latest standards at the highest possible levels.
